PU Library Special Needs Services 
Welcome to the Library Disability Services. 

Pwani University Library is committed to providing accommodations for patrons living with disabilities. Patrons seeking assistance are encouraged to contact us for disability services we provide. PU Library staff will arrange for accommodations to enable you to make the most efficient use of library facilities, materials, and services. 

 Services we provide:

The Library can provide various accessibility services to students, such as:

  • Help to retrieve information materials from shelves
  • Searching the library catalogue (OPAC)
  • Reference services
  • Information Literacy
  • Literature searches
  • Databases and web navigation
  • One-on-one library orientation sessions to help you find your way around
  • Emailing or postage of materials when appropriate such as past examination papers, ejournals, ebooks
  • Getting resources in alternative formats such as CD ROMs and DVD ROMs.
Assistive Technology in the Library:

We have a range of assistive equipment and facilities such as:

  • Accessible work stations in the virtual library 
  • Screen reader software – NVDA (Non Visual Desktop Access)
  • Our Library Website is also integrated with Accesibility Feature icon for accessibily services
